Privacy Policy

When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and Google account identifier. That is the whole set — we do not request contacts, calendar, Drive or any other scope.

If you create an alumni profile we store what you type into that form: your name, SIH year, achievement, problem statement, domain, the areas you can help with, and an optional Topmate link. If you send a help request we store the text of that request and who it was addressed to.

Verified alumni profiles are public — that is the point of the directory. Help requests are visible only to you and the person you sent them to. We do not sell data, we do not run advertising, and we do not share anything with third parties beyond the infrastructure providers below.

When you apply as alumni, a reviewer compares the placement you claim against the results the Smart India Hackathon already publishes at sih.gov.in. That is public information we read; we do not collect certificates, identity documents or anything else from you, and we do not share your application with the organisers or any ministry.

The optional evidence field is a note to the reviewer — a team name or PS number that makes you easier to find in those public listings. It is never shown on your profile.

Supabase hosts the database and handles authentication. Google provides sign-in. Email notifications are delivered by our transactional email provider. Each processes data only to run the service.

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may access, correct or delete your data at any time. Alumni can edit their own profile from the profile page. Deleting your account removes your profile, your requests and your account row permanently — there is no soft-delete and no recovery window.

To delete your account, use the control on your profile page, or email us and we will action it within 30 days.

Profiles and requests are kept while your account exists. Deleting the account deletes them. Database backups are retained for 7 days and then rotate out.
